CLINICAL RESEARCH DEPARTMENT

David P. Kalin, M.D., M.P.H.,  Principal Investigator and Director of Research

• Coordinates, supervises and promotes clinical research studies.

• Maintains appropriate and current credentials of participating sub-investigators.

• Documents delegation of responsibilities for managing clinical studies.  

• Coordinates efforts among all participants to facilitate the study experience.  

• Reviews all diagnostic studies and any deviations or serious adverse events related to study protocols.  

• Attends clinical seminars, conferences and/or conventions for the purpose of participation in/or promotion of clinical research program.

• Facilitates clinical research through provision of facilities and access to appropriate patient populations.  

• Provides guidance in the research process.  

• Manages studies at the SOUTHEAST REGIONAL ARTHRITIS CENTER.  

• Maintains familiarity with study protocols and investigator responsibilities.  

• Promotes publication of study results with associated health care professional

Sub-investigator and Assistant Director of Research

• Facilitates placement of studies with skilled investigators and clinical study teams.  

• Manages studies at the SOUTHEAST REGIONAL ARTHRITIS CENTER, The HEALTHPLACE and other site locations.  

• Coordinates studies with the lnternal Review Boards (IRB).

• Maintains familiarity with all study protocols and investigator responsibilities.  

• Directs specific attention to informed consent, drug accountability, record documentation, immediate communication with the principal investigator and IRB regarding any sudden adverse events (SAE) and adherence to follow up visits.  

• Reviews all laboratory data and EKG results and reviews any deviations from the protocol with the principal investigator.
